Spastis Remotisis

It's not yet in the medical journals. It affects only the male species. Woman can not contract this because we have too many brain cells. There is no cure. You know a man has it when he refuses to allow anyone access to the Television remote control and can't stand watching the commercials. He must flip thru all the channels before changing back to the original show. It's like a contest to see how many different channels he can flip through until his show comes back. So if your man has this disease then all you can do is close your eyes as he flips because you don't want to chance finding a better show to watch then what he is originally

watching. Good luck and my sympathy goes out to all you women with a man like mine that is afflicted with this terminal disease.

Traditions....

....is what holds a family's memories together for future generations. Mom always made poppy seed rolls every Christmas for us girls as gifts from a recipe given to her by cousin Joan. After mom's Parkinson's took over, I would come to help her create them so we could all share in this wonderful tradition. Last year she died and no poppy seed rolls were baked for anyone. This year I attempted with success to do it myself. Next year I will begin to continue the tradition and bake each of my sisters their own poppy seed roll. I will miss the time spent with my mom but I will have all the lovely memories forever.

Coffee and silence:a good thing

AAH, the kind of quietness that makes you ears ring. When all sound is absent, the ears are still buzzing. Makes you wonder if coffee drinkers centuries back heard the same inner ear whine? I bet not cause they didn't have the nosy civilization that we do today. So hum to yourself to block it out or just enjoy the music your ears make reminding you how good you have it!

My Slang Words

DUMMYTIRE - known as the donut or spare tire; reason for new term is that you're an idiot for having one instead of a full size spare and it looks stupid on your car!

DISFLEXIC - dyslexic, cause I can't pronounce it properly hence the problem

GRASSLING - like a seedling only the first blade of your lawn after a long winter's nap when the lawn lies dormant awaiting spring to start new growth

DERK - a combination of dork and jerk

You know you're bored when....

....you try making pictures out of the wood knot patterns on you backyard fence. Or maybe you just lost it? Or maybe you haven't had enough coffee yet? Whatever the cause, the rest of the day has to go better. "Laugh at yourself, everyone else does."

What Happened to Nosewarmers, and Such

I remember as a kid in England having to wear a nose warmer I made after Mom taught me to crochet. I no longer have it but the memory lingers. Then I started to think of other things that no longer are seen. Like clackers, those heavy plastic balls at the end of two strings that clackered up and down leaving bruises on my arms, but I guess I can understand why. But other such items have disappeared into the void. No longer does a penny get you a piece of gum and a tiny toy from the gumball machine at the A&P Store. But the such I miss the most is the eye contact everyone made as you passed by them. The warmth that was shared in just a glance. I miss that the most!

I DO TO HAVE A LIFE

Why is it that people assume since I don't work that I don't have a life. Just because I am at home doing whatever I feel like doing. They should say, "I'm glad you are able to find the time to get more done." It's pure and simple envy. They have to belittle me just to make them feel better cause they wish they could be me!

IT'S JUST AROUND THE CORNER

CHRISTMAS! Getting into storage boxes filled with the season of blessings. There is so much that could be put out . I start out trying to be modest and end up with just about everything decorated. BUT THIS YEAR I WILL TRY REALLY HARD NOT TO OVER DO IT. We'll see!!!!!

AGE

You're not older than dirt or the sands of time. Age is just a number not a state of mind.

Yes, I'm getting ready for Christmas

I can't help it. I got out the tree then it just snowballed on me. I washed all the Christmas linen and had to iron them out. Then I had to place a few, like the shower curtin, table cloth, coffee tables and a chair. Now the kitchen linens are replaced as well. I'm trying not to get carried away by decorating all out like last year but who knows....I probably go all out again.

Coffee has a sister

And it's name is hot cocoa. Here's a wonderful recipe: 2 cup non-dairy creamer + 1 1/2 cup sugar + 1/4 teaspoon salt + 1/2 dry milk powder + 3/4 cup unsweeten baking cocoa powder = shake up in a container or zipbag. {add about 1/4 cup to boiling water or into your coffee} [you can leave out the sugar and add substtute if you like] ENJOY!!!

Coffee, poptarts, and granson

My granson Anthony spent the night with me. We had a blast with his new lightup sword, eating his Halloween candy, and just being silly. Here's a photo of him in the pumpkin patch on a school field trip I went on with his first grade class.

Senile or Forgetfulness

They're not the same. Senile results from old age. Forgetfulness means apt to be unable to remember. So at nearly 50. I'm just forgetful! So forgetful that when I find what I am looking for I keep looking. What I am looking for isn't in the last place I look. Maybe when I'm senile, I'll stop looking and just forget I lost it!

My Coffee Cup

It sits empty until I'm ready,

To fill it up with brew.

To start my morning steady,

Begin my day anew.

Mourning the smoking section

Ever since local restaurants shut down their smoking section I feel lost. There is no where I can go and enjoy my coffee, conversation and my cigarettes. So I don't go out for coffee anymore. Now, I know there are more people that don't smoke and they are happy with the clean air. But I bet they are the same people who drive big gas guzzling vehicles that put out pollution into the air we breathe. So which is worst? A section that is equipped to separate us smokers from others or the tons of carbon dumped into the very air we breath all the time???
